LRGHealthcare Cardiac Rehabilitation
LRGHealthcare’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program consists of two components: telemetry monitored exercise, and lifestyle modification education. The lifestyle education component includes information on how the heart works, risk factor modification and lifestyle changes, heart healthy eating, and stress management. The exercise component consists of an hour of equipment use, stretching and relaxation. Exercise equipment in the program includes recumbent steppers, treadmills, bikes, arm ergometers, and free weights.
Once a patient “graduates” from our program, they are often referred to one of our Wellness Centers for an ongoing supervised exercise program and continued monitoring. Our supervised exercise programs are staffed by nurses and exercise specialists who are available to oversee maintenance exercise programs and provide ongoing reinforcement of a heart-healthy lifestyle, including offering guidance on issues such as weight and blood pressure control, stress management, nutrition choices, and smoking cessation.
Where and when is cardiac rehab offered?
The acute program is held on the third floor at LRGH. The program is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7a.m.-4p.m. Classes are scheduled in the mornings.
The Wellness Centers have different operating hours. Please call the Community Wellness Center at (603) 527-9355; or the Winnipesaukee Wellness Center at (603) 253-1839 for more information.
How much does cardiac rehab cost, and will my insurance cover this service?
Most health insurance plans cover acute cardiac rehabilitation, and many plans also cover some additional rehabilitation. Financial assistance is available for all of LRGHealthcare’s cardiac rehab programs. Please do not let cost be a barrier to you receiving the healthcare you need! Call our acute program or either Wellness Center to talk to staff about any concerns you may have.
What do I do if I think this program could help me?
Talk with your doctor. Acute cardiac rehabilitation programs are only for those who have recently suffered a cardiac event, and if you fall into this category, make sure to talk with your doctor about whether our program might be right for you.
The Wellness Centers serve a much broader spectrum of patients. In addition to offering maintenance programs for patients who have experienced a cardiac event, they also offer ongoing rehabilitation programs for anyone suffering from a chronic illness, or anyone whose doctor feels could benefit from a supervised exercise program! Ask your doctor, or call the Centers for more information.
If you have questions about LRGHealthcare’s Acute Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, please ask your doctor, or call our office at (603) 527-2810.
For the Wellness Centers, please call (603) 527-9355 for the Laconia program; or 253-1839 for the Center Harbor/Moultonboro program.
