LRGHealthcare's Healthy Living-Community Education programs help to keep you and your family healthy.

Below is a list of upcoming programs on a variety of health topics including important women's health issues, injury prevention, smoking cessation and nutrition and physical activity opportunities for all ages.

Cancer Care
Breast Cancer and Beyond Support Program

Support Program Social gathering for any women who have been affected by breast cancer.

The first Monday of each month, in the Tanger Suite-LRGH Women’s Imaging and Breast Health Services from 4:30-6:00 pm. Call 527-2940 for more information or to sign up.

Let No Woman Be Overlooked: Breast & Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP)

Free breast and cervical cancer screenings are available for women ages 21-64 who meet certain guidelines.

If you do not have health insurance or have a high deductible, funds may be available to help cover the cost of a mammogram.

General Wellness
Better Choices, Better Health Chronic Disease Self-Management Program

Six-week program designed to help you, or someone you know to better manage a chronic health condition such as arthritis, diabetes and/ or chronic pain.

Heart Health: Cardiac Rehabilitation Program 

Designed for people who have heart disease and are recuperating from an acute event such as, a heart attack, coronary bypass surgery or balloon (stent) surgery. The program includes goal-oriented supervised exercise, education for self-management of heart disease, and support to make healthy lifestyle changes. Call 527-2810 for more information.

Asthma Education Classes
FREE education classes taught by a certified asthma educator. No referral needed.  Call 527-7120 to register, topics include:

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Nutrition and Weight Management
Weekly Weight In brought to you by the Weight Institute of New Hampshire (WINH)

Find the support you need while learning about different nutrition topics each week to optimize your weight loss.
To begin this program, participants must meet with a registered dietitian for a one-time consultation to design your individualized meal plan. Offered Mondays, 3:30 - 4:45 pm in the WINH Conference room, 85 Spring Street, Laconia. Call 527-2946 for more information, cost and registration or visit

Teen Weight Loss Support Group

A peer support group for teens struggling with weight issues.  Topics include; a balanced plate. healthy drinks, eating out and emotional and food-related peer pressure.  Facilitated by a licensed dietitian, call 527-2946 for dates and times or visit for more details.

Optifast Liquid Meal Replacement

Medically supervised weight loss program that utilizes full or partial meal replacement that transitions into every day meal preparation, in conjunction with education and support. Call 527-2946 for more info and cost.

Bariatric (Weight Loss Surgery) Information Session 

If you’re considering weight loss surgery, the Weight Institute of New Hampshire offers FREE information sessions the second Tuesday of every month, alternating at 3:00 & 5:00 pm at Lakes Region General Hospital.  Visit WINH for dates and times.

Bariatric Support Group

Managing Your Weight with Hypnosis

Nutrition Counseling

Water Fitness 
Arthritis Aquatic Program

Ideal for people with arthritis and other physical limitations. No swimming skills are needed. Class meets twice a week for six weeks at Hillside Medical Park, Gilford.

Aqua Pilates

Core fusion program based on mat Pilates, using gentle yoga stretching to increase balance and posture. Held in shallow and deep water. Class meets once a week for eight weeks at Hillside Medical Park, Gilford

Aqua Strength & Conditioning

WOW Class (Work Off Weight)

Jump-start your metabolism with this eight week program designed to help participants with weight loss goals of 50 pounds or more. Exercises include water walking, core strengthening, light aerobics and muscle strengthening using buoyancy equipment in the shallow and deep ends of the pool.

Athletic Performance Series (See Fitness for more options)

The series is designed to assist coaches, athletes and recreational athletes develop sport specific skills or improve overall fitness. Participants are invited to attend all sessions or just one. Classes are FREE. Please come dressed appropriately and ready to participate.

Core Strengthening is for Everyone

Your core is a combination of your torso, hips, and pelvic muscles that make up a base for all body movement. Come and learn the importance of developing and maintaining a strong and stable core and the strengthening techniques available; A strong core is Important for anyone who want to maintain good back health.

The Rotator Cuff-Keeping Your Shoulder Healthy & Strong

The Rotator Cuff- Keeping Your Shoulder Healthy and Strong Workshop will discuss basic anatomy of the shoulder and simple exercises to keep your shoulder healthy and strong to engage in everyday activities as well as lifting and sports.  

Dynamic Stretching and Injury Prevention

Dynamic Stretching is a method of stretching and preparing the body for physical activities while improving strength, speed, agility and endurance. Come and learn what’s behind this better way of stretching and learn techniques that you can apply to your own program.

Running ... Competitively or For Fun 

This workshop is designed to provide both novice and competitive runners with information about injury prevention, running techniques and education on running form. Ideal exercises for warming-up and cooling-down after a run will also be discussed.
