Apply to Become a Volunteer

If you are ready to volunteer your time and talent and make a difference in your community, then we are excited to talk to you.  LRGHealthcare is proud to offer the following volunteer opportunities:

Adult Volunteers (18+)
Teen Volunteers (15+ See requirements)
Student Experiences (See requirements)

Adult Volunteer

The first step to becoming an adult volunteer is to complete a preliminary online application. This allows the volunteer office to review your interest and talents to help find the best possible fit for you. Step two involves an interview to determine an appropriate assignment.  If together we find something that works for you, we will move to step three which requires the following:

  • The completion of two reference forms (References cannot be given by relatives, and should be  someone who has known you for more than a year. All references must include contact information for verification)
  • A criminal background check (Service as a volunteer does not start until this is returned and approved)
  • A completed medical form, including Tuberculosis testing and immunizations (LRGHealthcare covers expense)
  • Your attendance in Volunteer Orientation

Teen Volunteer

Teen volunteers are required to be 15 years or older, and must complete LRGHealthcare's Caring Student Intern (CSI) program before they can begin volunteering.

CSI is a two-day, hands-on program to aquaint teens to the healthcare environment. LRGHealthcare offers two sessions; one in July and one in August.  Classes are limited to twelve students. Once completed, teens may volunteer in various areas of the hospital, including some clinical areas. (Excludes: Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, Medical Practices and Surgical Services)

The first step to becoming a teen volunteer at LRGHealthcare is to complete the Teen Volunteer CSI application. Applications are accepted year-round, and students will be notified if they have been chosen for the upcoming session.

CSI Selection Criteria:

  • All selected teens must attend teen volunteer orientation
  • Selected teens must committ to attend both days in the session or be disqualified
  • High school seniors and juniors are given first priority
  • Applicants not chosen for the current year will be offered first right of refusal the following year

Teens selected for the CSI program will receive a confirmation/welcome letter approximately the second or third week of June.
