Digital Mammography & Breast Health
Did you know?
One in every eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime.
Every woman is at risk for breast cancer, and risk increases with age.
Eighty percent of the women with breast cancer do not have a sister or mother with the disease.*
Early diagnosis is the key to beating breast cancer! Regular mammograms, monthly self-exams, and yearly exams by a clinical professional are the best protection against this disease.
LRGHealthcare wants to help protect you. Our Breast Health Program was created to provide you with the resources and support you need to understand and address any breast health challenges you may face. The LRGHealthcare Women's Imaging Center and the Medical Imaging department at Franklin Regional Hospital and Caring for Women practice provide women in our community with access to the screening and diagnostic breast health services they may need.

LRGHealthcare is pleased to offer digital mammography— the gold standard in mammography technology. LRGHealthcare is providing the best and most effective tools to help every woman in our community fight this deadly disease.
According to the National Cancer Institute, digital mammography can improve detection in women who are under the age of 50, those who have dense breast tissue, and women who have not yet entered menopause. In digital mammography all images are stored electronically, which not only eases storage, but also transmission of images. If a radiologist would like a second opinion on a mammogram, he or she can easily transmit the file to a colleague for a consultation in a matter of seconds.
If you are a woman over the age of 40, under most insurance plans, including Medicare, you can schedule an annual diagnostic mammogram without a physician referral—you can call and schedule the appointment yourself.
In our community, you have a choice where to schedule your digital mammogram— Caring for Women (Two practice locations in Laconia), Lakes Region General Hospital or Franklin Regional Hospital. You don’t need to be a Caring for Women patient to schedule a mammogram at either practice.
