Preparing for a Sleep Study

Preparing for an overnight sleep study at the LRGHealthcare Sleep Center is a simple process. Below are some basic guidelines to help make your experience as pleasant as possible.

On the day of your sleep study:

  • Try not to take a nap;
  • Avoid caffeine at least eight hours before your study;
  • Do not drink any alcohol on the day of your study;
  • Shower and wash your hair (Please do not apply any hair products or use cologne, oil or lotion on your skin the day of your study);
  • Eat dinner

Bring the following items with you to the Sleep Center:

  • Your medication list, and any medications you normally take at bedtime;
  • Pajamas or comfortable sleeping attire (preferably two-piece);
  • Personal toiletries;
  • Your pillow, a book or other reading material (if you wish)
