Critical Care Services

LRGHealthcare offers critical care services to the Lakes and Three Rivers Region in our Intensive Care Units (ICU) at Franklin Regional Hospital (FRH) and Lakes Region General Hospital (LRGH).

Both campuses are staffed with specially trained physicians, nurses and staff, providing the highest quality care, delivered with the care and compassion. Patients who need continuous monitoring and observation are admitted to ICU.

The LRGH campus is home to a brand new 15-bed Intensive Care Unit and 5-bed Progressive Care (Step down) Unit. Both units offer advanced care, by design. The fully equipped, private rooms offer high-tech monitoring and a state-of-the-art patient lift system that provides the highest quality in patient and staff safety standards. Every room has a private bathroom, flat screen TV and expanded window design to allow more natural lighting to promote better healing. A welcoming family area offers extendable sofas for those who may choose to stay with a loved one.

Located between every two patient rooms is an individual nursing station that facilitates the close observation and monitoring of critical patients required in an ICU setting. The ICU is also prepared to receive patients with infectious diseases in specialized isolation rooms located throughout the department.

The adjacent Progressive Care Unit provides a transition for patients who are well enough to move to a standard hospital room, but still need continuous monitoring. PSU patients are cared for by our ICU-trained nurses.

The ICU/PCU waiting area offers family and friends a quiet place to gather. A private consultation room is available to meet with physicians and support staff. Amenities include, free WIFI access, TV, coffee and a direct phone line to the ICU and PCU staff.

The ICU and PCU are purposely on the same floor as the existing Surgical Services department and Telemetry Unit (Cardiac monitoring), consolidating all Critical Care Units onto one floor. These adjacencies assist in providing increased efficiencies and enhanced quality of care. Many patient transfers occur between these units, and most staff working in these areas is cross-trained to work in more than one of the departments listed on this particular floor.
