Services for Cancer & Blood Disorders
LRGHealthcare's Hematology/Oncology Department offers state-of-the-art cancer treatments – the most advanced medically accepted treatments available today for cancer and blood-related diseases.
We offer a broad range of cancer care and support services including diagnostics, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biotherapy, clinical trials, surgical treatments, management of lymphedema, and complementary therapies. We are also networked into a system of care with other hospitals across the region to provide you with additional treatment options.
We are proud to offer our patients the cancer care and services they need, right here in their own community.
Our doctors are affiliated with the world-renowned Dana Farber Cancer Institute, giving patients in our community access to their clinical trials program, as well as national and international cooperative group trials. The clinical trials program provides access to cutting-edge treatments that patients cannot receive outside of the research setting. The trials in which we participate are primarily for colon, lung, breast, and prostate cancer, though some other trials are available on a limited basis. These Phase III trials are testing treatments that have been shown to possibly be more effective, or have fewer side effects, than standard therapies.
The clinical research team includes the medical oncologists, a clinical trial nurse, oncology pharmacist, and data manager. The treatments are administered by specially trained oncology nurses. By participating in high quality research, patients are helping to pave the way to better, safer, and easier treatments for all cancer patients.
For our patients undergoing treatment for blood-related disorders, we offer blood transfusions, IV iron infusions, IV immune globulins plus the latest treatments for MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome).
A Team Approach
Our professional team includes several board-certified medical oncologists from New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology, PA (NHOH), certified oncology nurses, a dedicated clinical pharmacist, a social worker, and a professional support staff. We work closely with one another, your primary care provider, and other specialists involved in your care. We also work closely with you and your family—the most important members of your care team. You will be empowered to make choices in your care.
Office hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. All patient appointments for office visits and treatments are accepted by referral from primary care providers, specialists or self-referral. Oncology services are located on the first floor of Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. We can be reached by calling (603) 527-2905 (Fax: (603) 527-2985).
LRGHealthcare treats all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Financial counselors are available for those patients who concerned about the cost of their care. Please do not let financial issues be a barrier to your cancer or blood-disorder care.
