LRGHealthcare has recently completed the third year of a five year program with the New Hampshire Colorectal Cancer Screening Program (NHCRCSP) funded by a grant from the Centers of Disease Control (CDC). The grant offers free colorectal cancer screenings to qualified individuals in New Hampshire. We are pleased to state that over 175 patients referred by LRGHealthcare doctors have been eligible for a free colorectal cancer screening (colonoscopy) through this program.
Patients have the ability to be referred through the NHCRCSP until July 2014. To be eligible one must meet all of the following criteria:
50-64 years old
Resident of NH
At or below 250% of federal income guidelines
Uninsured or underinsured (defined as having a large deductable, co-pay, or co-insurance)
Average risk for colorectal cancer
Dr. Rick Wilson, Director of Practice Development at LRGHealthcare, stated that Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the state of New Hampshire. The good news is that colon cancer can be prevented or detected early if screened on a regular basis.
The NHCRCSP can be reached at 603-653-3702 for direct enrollment, or talk to your doctor for more information.
