With members of the Board of Trustees, Senior Management Team and major donors present, Tom Clairmont, President/CEO of LRGHealthcare announced today the launch of LRGHealthcare’s Strengthening the Community’s Well-Being Capital Campaign.
The major focus of the Strengthening the Community’s Well-Being Capital Campaign is to raise the necessary funds, through philanthropic giving, to convert existing LRGH and FRH inpatient rooms to single patient rooms. Renovations will include private bathrooms and showers, family sleep sofas and state-of-the-art patient lift systems, providing the safest and easiest way to move a patient. Private rooms allow patients the opportunity to sleep better, heal faster and have private discussions with their family and health care providers. In addition to private patient rooms, renovations include a new endoscopy suite at LRGH, updating medical imaging equipment at Franklin Regional Hospital and Lakes Region General Hospital and expansion of the Emergency Department to accommodate the growing needs of the community.
Campaign co-Chair, Gil Schohan recognized and thanked top level donors for their vision and continued support of LRGHealthcare, including; Laconia Savings Bank, Franklin Savings Bank and Meredith Village Savings Bank, who are among the first to champion this valuable, community campaign. "The participation of our staff, Board of Trustees, providers, community members and businesses in the Leadership Phase of the campaign has been tremendous. We are grateful for their support,” she said.
"We firmly believe these renovation projects are not an option but a necessity. In order for the organization to be able to carry out its mission of providing quality healthcare to our community, we need to be proactive and continue to grow and adapt to our changing environment. The funding from the Capital Campaign will help us to meet and exceed these challenges,” added Tom Clairmont.
LRGHealthcare recently unveiled a 97,000-square-foot patient care addition at LRGH, with a new and expanded Intensive Care and Senior Service Services units, a new power plant, a reconfigured lobby with convenient access to outpatient services. The addition was needed not only to meet the growing critical and intensive care needs of our growing senior population, but to transition the entire facility from double to single-room patient care.
The addition was made possible because the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) insured the bonds that allowed LRGHealthcare to refinance existing loans. This provided a long-term savings of nearly $27 million over the life of the loan.
To date, $2.9 million has been committed to the Capital Campaign. The organization needs to raise a minimum of $4 million to begin the renovation project. For more information about the campaign, please visit www.lrgh.org.
