Certified Physicians Ready to Help With New DOT Requirements

5/22/2014

LACONIA, NH-Effective immediately, the Department of Transportation (DOT) is requiring that commercial truck drivers receive their Medical Certification Cards from DOT certified physicians.  The requirements that need to be met in order to attain a card have not changed; however physicians who are DOT certified have a more narrow focus on the existing guidelines they have to follow prior to issuing a Medical Certification Card.

This new requirement will help prevent driver fraud issues ensuring driver safety as well as the safety of others who share the road.  Additionally, through testing for health concerns such as sleep apnea, diabetes, and vision and cardio issues, it’s good for a driver’s overall health and well-being.

LRGHealthcare Occupational Health Services is here to help with these DOT requirement needs.  They currently have five physicians who are DOT certified and can work with drivers and/or their employers to issue Medical Certification Cards when up for renewal.  LRGHealthcare Occupational Health Services is available with expanded hours at Hillside Medical Park in Gilford, Franklin Regional Hospital, and Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.  In addition, they will conduct DOT physicals on site for those employers who would like to have their drivers taken care of on location.

LRGHealthcare Occupational Health Services is available Monday through Friday at Hillside Medical Park in Gilford, four days a week at Franklin Regional Hospital (FRH), and Huggins Hospital every Friday starting in June.
