Greater Franklin HEAL Coalition Applauds Efforts of FSB to Support Local Walking Trails

9/17/2012

The Greater Franklin Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Coalition is giving recognition and applauds to Franklin Savings Bank in their support of local walking trails. Over $5,300 in proceeds from their 19th Annual Charity Softball Tournament is being donated to area trail associations such as the Odell Park River Trail, Friends of the Northern Rail Trail, the Winnipesaukee River Trail, and the WOW Trail for their upkeep and development efforts.

In an earlier press release FSB states, “This year, tournament proceeds will be awarded to local walking trails to encourage active living as well as alternative transportation. Few organizations are able to provide benefit to all ages throughout many communities - for all 'walks' of life. Our community assets, the walking trails of Central NH, provide safe, alternative transportation routes as well as recreational opportunities while being a direct encouragement for active living. 'Active Living' is an equally important half of 'Healthy Eating, Active Living' - an emphasis throughout our region and nationwide.”

The Greater Franklin HEAL Coalition serves to promote environmental change and strategies to make healthy eating and active living easy and accessible. Their support of the local trail system includes development of the 2012 Walking and Trail Guide for the Greater Franklin Area which is available at the Franklin Parks and Recreation Dept., Franklin Savings Bank, and Franklin Regional Hospital or by calling 934-2060 ext. 8329 and request your free copy.
